About Me

Jennifer Lareau-Gee is a word-loving gamer who lives in Michigan with her husband and their dog, Booker Dewitt. She has loved reading and writing since she was little. When she started her undergraduate career at Michigan State University, she knew that she had to follow her passion. As a dual Professional Writing and English major at MSU, she studied writing, rhetoric, and design for different environments while also learning about literary history, theoretical analysis, and close reading.

Between the two majors, she received multiple opportunities for professional experience. As a freshman, she was hired a professional blogger for the university and blogged about living on campus. She did this for her first three years at Michigan State University. In the summer of her sophomore year, she got an internship at an indie publishing company in Southeastern Michigan, working as an editor, social media manager, and document designer. In her junior year, she became a writer and copy-editor for an on-campus magazine, ING. Finally, she was a writing consultant and content writer at the Writing Center at MSU.

After she graduated, she worked as a copy-editor for a magazine in Oakland County, Michigan and also worked as a freelance editor and document designer. Her freelance experience includes copy-editing novels and website content, as well as designing promotional documents and wedding programs. She finished her graduate education at New York University, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Professional Writing. Her thesis focused on faculty diversity in undergraduate rhetorical studies programs.

Most recently, she was the Academic Editor for the College of Nursing at MSU. Currently, she is a Research Editor at the University of Michigan and a Freelance Editor with WordVice. She still does freelance editing and document design as well.
